International Women's Day, held on March 8, celebrates the achievements of women and highlights gender discrimination and the need to accelerate gender parity.

Although the percentage of women in the life sciences industry as a whole is nearly equal to that of men, there is still work to be done in terms of representation of women in leadership positions, as only 34% of executives and 20% of CEOs in the biotechnology sector are women.

However, gender diversity has made its way into the industry and some of the top biotech leaders are now women, leading the way and proving that it is possible to break through boundaries.
